**
One-to-one tutor development with Jan Phillips, Shepparton ACE
Making the most of volunteer tutors, hints on teaching, developing skills, getting good resources, watching health and safety, making the role rewarding for everyone.
Thursday 2 September, 1.15 pm (confirm time) part of the Regional Conference at Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE, Docker Street, Wangaratta
RSVP: Pat Grosse on 03 5762 4655 or grosse.patricia.p@edumail.vic.gov.au

** Adult Learning and the Arts – Music
This session will be “a hands” on session exploring music making through speaking, singing, moving and playing.
Group activity such as this allows for individuals to feel safe by participating at their own level whilst not detracting from the overall product.  It allows participants to explore their own sense of risk taking, cooperativeness and leadership.  It also challenges their problem solving ability, sense of balance and rhythm and demands that they interact with others.
In these sort of activities there is no place to hide but there is plenty of acceptance and support.
During the course of the session participants will be taken through activities such as social dance, drumming, improvised singing, speech rhyme ensembles, instrument making and more playing on home made marimbas.
Participants should wear comfortable and sensible clothing (flat shoes a must).
Wednesday 20 October 1pm - 4pm
Victoria University, Room D409 4th Floor, Hoadley Building
Footscray Nicholson Campus, Buckley Street Footscray
Presenter: Jeff Mifsud, who in twenty five years as ateachers has   worked in Primary, Secondary and Tertiary education settings, mostly in the area of Arts education and more recently in the area of drama and the “Theatre of the Oppressed” focussing on community engagement through the drama and the arts.  He’s a member of the Orff Schulwerk Music Education Association and presents workshops for teachers in the areas or arranging, composition and the use of percussion instruments in the classroom.  His more recent work has been in the area of community music – engaging people through music and the arts.  Choirs, drum therapy, instrumental music and collecting and performing of French regional Folk dance as well as hosting a weekly acoustic music program on Sunbury community radio 3NRG are all part of the scheme to bring music and the arts into a more accessible community setting.

Multiple literacies
Has technology become crucial to your understanding of multiple literacies? Have you been hunting out new resources, looking for support, or wanting to discuss the practical issues?
Teachers & researchers of adult literacy & numeracy are becoming more and more involved with technology these days, aren't they! You may have heard about the new mailing list - the AL-T: to enable teachers to share ideas, ask for help, and collaborate through networking around the place.
If your work has you integrating technology into teaching and learning experiences, then Come and join our group! Guest speakers, live sessions, regular discussion topics
