Committee News

1. Final stages of planning for the ACAL conference

The committee is busy working on the final stages of planning for the ACAL conference in September. We are delighted with the program and registrations continue to come in at a steady rate. As an alternative to the traditional conference dinner, we are planning to showcase some of Melbourne’s fabulous range of eating experiences. Conference participants will choose from four different restaurants offering Italian, Vietnamese, Greek and Chinese cuisine with committee member as tour guide and host. It will be a night to remember!

4. Masterclass and information session Monash Bachelor of Adult Learning and Development

This masterclass will map emerging technologies and consider their implicationsfor learning, the adult learner, the teacher and the adult education workforce.Dr Henderson will investigate various technologies in adult education and theimpact they have on the way that education and training is understood anddelivered. This session will provide you with an opportunity to hear from a leadingacademic in the area of educational technologies as well as a chance to find outmore about the Monash Bachelor of Adult Learning and Development

8. Learn Local Advertising Campaign

ACFE is implementing a state-wide Learn Local advertising campaign to increase the awareness of the Learn Local network and boost participation in the sector. Key messaging will encompass our overarching theme: ‘Learn Local: Take your next step with us’ and will focus on youth, parents returning to work and the CALD community.

The campaign will run from 28 August to 19 November and will include a range of media channels.

Indigenous Literacy Day  7 September  

Everyone is invited to participate in the fifth Indigenous Literacy Day (ILD), Wednesday 7 September 2011. Indigenous Literacy Day aims to help raise funds to raise literacy levels and improve the lives and opportunities of Indigenous Australians living in remote and isolated regions.

10. CGEA Numeracy Review 2011

In 2011 the Numeracy component of the Certificates in General Education for Adults (CGEA) are being reviewed and updated. 11. Curriculum Staff urgently needed

Curriculum Staff urgently needed (August-December) 2 days a week at the Defence Force School of Languages, Laverton. The Curriculum Staff will:

· Advise and assist Language Staff develop Learner Guides, Trainer Guides, Delivery/Assessment Schedules

· Review materials

· Ensure materials meet learning outcomes and CBT requirements.

12. Consultant/instructional designer required

Precision Consultancy seeks to employ an experienced consultant/instructional designer to work on a range of vocational education and training projects, many of which relate to developing learners’ LLN skills.
