Committee membership
Are you an LLND educator who values professional connection, 
contribution and transformation for Victoria's adult learners and communities? We invite you share your enthusiasm and expertise on the VALBEC Committee.
Deadline for nominations is May 7th, before the Annual General Meeting on the 14th of May 2025, when the new committee will be formally endorsed. Please contact VALBEC if you need an extension for your nomination. There are also opportunities to be co-opted onto the VALBEC committee during the year.
As a literacy, language, numeracy and digital skills educator you want to ensure students have excellent learning experiences on their education journeys. Being a member of the VALBEC Committee provides you with many opportunities to expand the LLND workforce's professional capacity in a variety of ways.
We encourage you to put yourself forward and nominate for the VALBEC Committee via the form below.
Requirements of Committee membership
As a member of the Committee you are required to:
● be a financial member of VALBEC
● attend meetings regularly, usually via Zoom
● be able to access Google Drive
● be aware of the VALBEC Constitution and other legal requirements
● read the agenda and minutes before meetings
● scrutinise and approve financial reports
● contribute to planning and provision of professional development activities, including the conference
● send an apology to the secretary if unable to attend
● represent VALBEC at its conferences and other events
● action assigned tasks and report back to Committee in a timely manner
● provide eVALBEC newsletter updates
Committee opportunities
As a Committee member, you can join a sub-committee responsible for:
● Annual Conference
● Workshops and forums
● Other projects
● Fine print committee (meets separately)
Additionally, you can participate in several other ways including:
● attending forums and other meetings related to adult literacy and education
● writing articles or seeking stories/writers for Fine Print
● contributing ideas and material for eVALBEC, VALBEC website and social media
● writing project proposals, reports, correspondence or promotional material.
● using your networks to seek information about adult literacy issues at local, national or international levels; report back issues, concerns or relevant activities
● promoting VALBEC activities and Fine Print.
Opportunities to represent VALBEC on a range of groups and industry or government consultations such as:
● ACAL (Australian Council for Adult Literacy)
● Reading & Writing Hotline
● VICTesol Adult Learning Community of Practice
● CGEA champions
